Solmax honored with WMAM Waste Management Outstanding Achievement Award for POME biogas W2E project

Solmax is proud to receive the prestigious Waste Management Outstanding Achievement Award at the Waste Management Association of Malaysia (WMAM) Edition#2, recognizing the company’s contributions to environmental stewardship and the circular economy.

The purpose of this award is to raise awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship and to inspire companies to prioritize sustainability. It serves as a platform to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions, while encouraging others to enhance their environmental management practices. By participating in this initiative, companies can identify areas for improvement, promote partnerships, and meet the growing demands of global environmental challenges. This independent assessment allows businesses to measure their performance and benchmark their practices against industry leaders, fostering continuous improvement and demonstrating their commitment to excellence in waste management to stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

Solmax’s APAC Managing Director, Brendan Swifte, accepted the award on behalf of the company. Reflecting on this honor, Brendan stated, “This recognition highlights the positive environmental and economic impact of biogas technology. Solmax is thrilled to be part of this forward-thinking project, contributing to a responsible future.”

This award was presented to Solmax for its commitment to innovative and responsible environmental solutions, as exemplified in the Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) Biogas Waste-to-Energy (W2E) project

The POME Biogas W2E project, which began operations in August 2021 addresses the growing challenges of waste management in Malaysia. The project harnesses agricultural waste to generate renewable energy while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving wastewater quality. By converting POME – a byproduct of palm oil production – into biogas, the project transforms a low-value waste product into a valuable resource.
