Position overview

The Accounting Manager is responsible for functions relating to financial reporting. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial data. The Accounting Manager supervises 4 clerical staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that the work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position is responsible for meeting tight deadlines and various accounting activities including financial statement support, year-end audit assistance and support of budget and forecasting activities. The Accounting Manager will have interaction with senior-level associates, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise A/P, Billing and Cash Application.

  • Wire/ACH/Check Approval. Oversee Prepaid Expense Tracking and Charging

  • Oversee Internal Tax payments and notices and Global Administration billing to Corporate

  • Sales tax supervision and property tax administration. Income tax return preparation support (supporting schedules, mailing, handling penalty notices, tax account balance etc.)

  • Government Census report preparation/supervision

  • Cash management (forecasting, monitoring, loan repayment). Oversee Concur travel system management

  • IFRS 16 lease entries and oversight as well as prepare intercompany entries. Closing journal entries, reports and account analysis

  • Evaluate existing processes to develop efficiency improvements.

Qualifications and skills

  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA preferred.

  • 5-10 years of experience with increasing responsibility, with supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area.

  • Must be PC proficient with strong experience with Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with a large, automated accounting system.

  • Experience with Power BI, Concur travel expense software, and AS400-based systems and queries is a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory, verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
