Position overview

The Engineering Manager provides effective solutions with concern to the environment, eliminating the risk of accidents, while improving the working conditions for employees and in turn meeting the criteria for productivity and quality. The Engineering Manager shall ensure that deadlines are met, and business competitiveness is never compromised. The Engineering Manager is responsible for monitoring performance parameters of processing machinery and making suggestions for improvement. The engineering manager defines, implements, and validates improvements using an analytical approach and applies corrective actions where necessary while simultaneously advocating positive change.

The Engineering Manager is also responsible for optimizing all manufacturing processes and oversees R & D activities, implementing analytical and systematic methods of troubleshooting from the perspective of quality and cost reduction. With the team, the Engineering Manager is responsible for preventive and predictive maintenance of production equipment, facilities and building while managing human and material resources in order to minimize unplanned downtime and minimize the risk of interruptions in manufacturing and delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Implementation of CIP and Tail spend projects

  • Overall governance of plantwide Capex Projects

  • Involved in new installations, setups of equipment/machinery

  • Plan, supervise and implement work for the maintenance department.

  • Manage emergency-breakdowns and restoration processes.

  • Preparation for the applications of capital expenditure

  • Monitoring and evaluation of capital expenditure

  • Updating preventive and predictive maintenance documentation

Qualifications and skills

  • Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial engineer

  • 15 years experience in manufacturing plant (plastic/conversion industry being an asset) or 10 years of experience as a manager of a maintenance department.

  • Spoken and written: Malay and English.

  • Autonomous, Self Driven and a Strong Sense of Leadership.

  • Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance.
