Position Overview
The Engineering Business Manager of Value Added Products (VAPs) will assist in developing and executing a strategic business plan to develop, market and promote geosynthetic VAPs for Roadway and Low Carbon Solutions (LCS) to increase sales and profitability. The EBM of VAPs will be the “face” of the Solmax Civil Infrastructure Division within the southwest region (NV, NM, AZ) by establishing rapport within industry associations (ASCE, ASHE, AREMA, IECA, FMA, etc.) with both the private and public infrastructure. The EBM will be responsible for providing direct leadership for technical marketing strategies, coordinating with various teams for execution of marketing and sales strategies, and contributing to efforts that enhance differentiation and profitability through innovative engineering and product development. The role also involves collaborating with the Roadway and LCS team to achieve corporate sales objectives and building long-term customer relations. Travel is approximately 50%+.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and customer commitment in technical marketing and sales processes while representing Solmax. Ensure marketing and sales activities adhere to ethical standards and company policies.
Deliver exceptional customer support to meet or exceed customer and company expectations.
Business development efforts will target civil infrastructure, transportation, environmental, and natural resource market sectors across various applications such as roadways,
railroads, renewable energies, and coastal protection.
Assist in developing and executing the strategic Business Plan, including reviewing and adjusting as necessary.
Drive regional sales growth of Roadway and LCS VAPs through targeted channel strategies.
Identify VAP needs and influencers in infrastructure and private development markets, devising documented strategies for each.
Conduct VAP technical training, presentations, and demonstrations, coordinating with sales personnel and attending trade shows to enhance awareness.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, biosystems engineering, other engineering, construction management, or other relevant technical field of study
5-10 years of experience in an engineering/technical capacity (design, technical specifications, bid documents, technical reports, construction support, etc.) within the Transportation sector.
5-10 years’ experience managing client relationships within the private and government infrastructure segments. Proficiency in engineering business development, including preparation of plans and proposals.
Ability to attain Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), Certified Professional in Stormwater Quality (CPSWQ), or other relevant certification High level of business integrity.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills. Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Goal-oriented with autonomous ownership of market region, capable of managing multiple priorities and solving problems at strategic and functional levels.
