Senior Process Engineer

Position overview

As part of the consolidation of European nonwoven production in France, the Senior process engineer belongs to the manufacturing team in our plant and reports directly to the plant manager. The core responsibility is to initiate and execute product- and process improvement projects / programs for Solmax’ key technologies on site such that our plant can maintain / strengthen its competitive position in the long run. The senior process engineer will also support innovation projects as defined by the marketing team and innovation engineer and contribute to various Capex projects. This role is based in Bezons until the end of 2026 after which the role will be based in our new facility in Les Mureaux.

Key responsibilities

• Understanding of the nonwoven production process, identification of key parameters influencing the performance and quality of products and productivity.

• Together with the plant leadership team, defining an improvement project portfolio, then leading and taking charge of process improvement projects. Contributing to the execution of and sometimes lead innovation projects, as defined together with the EMEA innovation team.

• Developing a broad understanding of the site’s core technologies and the state of the art of those (through e.g. visiting trade shows or conferences), and of competition. This in order to develop a vision for future development of those technologies. Participate actively in the growth of the company

• Working with plant manager and maintenance team to define needs for upgrading or renewing plant equipment in order to stay competitive. Execute implementations of such projects.

• Execution of trials for process improvement, product innovation or raw material qualification: a) organization and analysis of validation tests for new raw materials. b) organization and execution of laboratory tests (projects, specific requests, etc.) c) writing of reports and follow-up of project actions (French and English).

• Collaboration with the different internal partners (production, quality, maintenance, marketing & innovation departments, etc.) and external partners (university laboratories, test laboratories, suppliers, pilot lines, etc.) in the context of development projects and programs.

• Participate in the control and validation of new products, in the quality monitoring of products in support of the quality department, analysis of process problems, study of non-conformities and implementation of corrective actions.

• Support and training of production teams during tests and for the improvement of industrial performance. Assisting in defining Capex applications and supporting their implementation.

Qualifications and skills

• Engineering degree or equivalent, preferably in chemical engineering (or similar), skills extrusion of plastic materials is recommended

• At least 15 years of experience in such a role.

• Foreign languages: Professional English required.

• Personal skills: good organizational skills, good interpersonal skills, proactivity, perseverance, team spirit, adaptability, tenacity and curiosity.

• Other: project management, continuous improvement tools.
