Position overview

This role directly reports to the Global vice-president - Commercial Excellence. As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Global Product Development/Innovation, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our approach to innovation and product development on a global scale. This role can be based remotely, in the USA or Canada, with travel as needed.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide expert guidance and insights to develop and execute the global product development and innovation strategy, aligning it with our overarching business objectives.

  • International Product Portfolio: Offer in-depth expertise to manage and enhance our product portfolio across international markets, ensuring products are competitive, profitable, and meet customer requirements.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that product development aligns with international market demands.

  • Market Research and Competitive Analysis: Utilize your extensive knowledge to conduct comprehensive market research and analysis, identifying global market trends, consumer preferences, and emerging technologies to drive product innovation.

  • New Product Development: Provide expert leadership in the development of new products, guiding their journey from concept to launch, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

  • Innovation Culture: Foster and propagate a culture of innovation within the organization, inspiring creativity and the generation of groundbreaking ideas.

  • Budget and Resource Advisory: Lend your expertise in resource allocation and budget management to optimize cost-effectiveness and productivity in product development.

  • Global Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all new products adhere to international regulatory standards and certifications, leveraging your knowledge of global compliance.

Qualifications and skills

  • Advanced degree in Material Science Engineering; polymer specialist preferred.

  • A substantial track record of at least 10 years in product development and innovation, with at least 5 years in a leadership or expert role in an international organization.

  • Proven success in the global launch of new products, backed by a record of innovation.

  • Demonstrated excellence in analytical thinking and strategic planning.

  • Outstanding cross-functional team leadership and communication abilities.
