Position overview
This job is responsible for the administration, implementation, and enforcement of the plant environmental, health, and safety policies to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and to meet or exceed established goals.
Key responsibilities
With the Regional HSE Manger, establish the HSE vision for the plant.
Develop and implement Plant Safety practices to create a safe working environment.
Develop and implement Plant Environmental practices to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Facilitates incident investigations, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective actions.
Manage Worker’s Compensation claims by investigating the circumstances of the claimed injury objectively, while minimizing costs and fraud. Act to prevent reoccurrence.
Accompany employees on initial visits to physicians. On occasion, attend follow-up visits as well.
Promote safety awareness; assist in safety and technical training.
Lead the plant’s Safety Committee with focus on raising safety awareness and creating an environment free of incidents .
Qualifications and skills
Undergraduate degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Engineering or related discipline; extensive work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Minimum of 5 to 8 years HSE experience; manufacturing preferred.
Experience with implementation and administration of a Behavior Based Safety Programs.
Experience in managing workers compensation claims, claims analysis, and cost reduction.
First-Aid, and CPR certification required, EMT a plus.
